BSNL To Connect Panchayats

BSNL is planning to reach out to the 1,091 panchayats in Assam, and provide 100 Mbps internet connectivity in the state by March 2016. Apart from BSNL, various private sectors are also in the pipeline and plan to 100 Mbps internet connectivity to over 2,000 panchayats across the state by next year or even earlier.

The conference which was just held just last week was launched to commemorate the Digital India Week on Tuesday as per the chief general manager of BSNL’s Assam circle Mr Rajiv Yadav, BSNL is trying to provide better internet service to panchayats in Dibrugarh and Kamrup districts as well.

The good internet connectivity would facilitate people to avail all the benefits of internet in regard to health, education, agriculture, IT as well as other sectors. Work is also in progress to build a new internet gateway or the northeast from Cox Bazar in Bangladesh to Agartala that would also provide an alternate source of energy along for all consumers in Assam.
BSNL was the first telecom provider that had taken the initiative of helping people near the borders of the northeast. The Union home minister had recently withdrawn the ban on the erection of mobile towers within 10 km radius of international borders as well.The towers would be complete by 2017 and BSNL plans to enter MoUs with state governments in the northeast to insert optical fibers in electric poles for unremitting service.
