University app to help students get quick information

Against the backdrop of the Digital India Week, the University of Mumbai on Wednesday launched a mobile application. The varsity also launched an upgraded version of its online portal. The app and the portal have been designed to disseminate information with improved interface.

The mobile app will enable students to access information about admission process, hall tickets etc. Students will also be able to access updates on events and seminars organized by the university, exam announcements, seating arrangement, results and results of the common admission processes.

The app will also include a Google Map guide of the campus and affiliated colleges and a payment gateway will also be integrated with the app for online transactions with the varsity.

The revamped portal, apart from the app's features, will also have a photo gallery and video lectures for students. Under the media tab of the portal, students will be able to create blogs, events, publish news and share notifications to social media.

"Digital empowerment is a process for enhancing students as it is the need of the hour, with the advanced technology students gain new abilities and ways to participate and express themselves in a networked society," said vice-chancellor, Rajan Welukar.
